A heavy heart

This evening when I picked Gary up I am so glad that I had been a pessimist about the future of our ABC Centre and tried hard to find him an alternative placement - because today we were advised that our ABC Centre was not one of the profitable ones and thus it was not one of the ones identified at this point in time to stay open.

I am so sorry for all of the parents that do not have alternative arrangements as I know how hard it is going to be for them to get a spot for their kids.  Some of the mums looked close to tears tonight as they wondered how they were going to be able to go to work next year.  Many of these parents have no family support available to them.  It is a terrible position to find yourself in  :o(

On a brighter note, Scrapware is having a blog party on Sunday night.

To celebrate the blog kicking off and the amazing response we've had, we are going to celebrate in style...

When: Sunday 30th November

Time: 7-9pm

We are going to have so much fun!  You can expect giveaways galore, a fantastic competition announcement, a scavenger hunt, new product sneak peeks and the Design Team will be online to answer any questions you want to fire at them!

so tired

it was a big day up in Sydney today with work and I am feeling a little tired tonight - and I am back to Sydney on Wednesday and then again on Friday afternoon for the weekend (but at least that is fun!).

This is going to be a pathetically short post, but I had to update on my movie date with hubby to see James Bond on Friday afternoon.  It was good - not as good as Casino Royale I do think.  But I really want to see it at least one more time before I make my final verdict.  Certainly Daniel Craig remains at the top of my list!  I have seen Casino Royale about 20 times (it is my favourite "scrap to" movie)  so I had better give Quantum of Solace a fighting chance

I am the biggest 007 fan - even before Daniel Craig - now I am seriously obsessed - lol.  Casino Royale is my current fav movie ever, but I am betting that this one will take over very soon.

I have been away

... but I didn't say anything on here in case my Mum saw it. My sister, Benson and I flew to Rockhampton (Central Queensland) to surprise Mum for her 60th birthday.  She had no idea and was thrilled.  So I enjoyed a couple of lovely, but very hot days in Rock Vegas.

Now I am back and I have a few announcements to make...

Designers Call (January -April 2009)

Are you passionate about scrapping? Do you love using sketches? We'd love to have you on our team!

Inspired Blueprints is an awesome sketch inspiration blog and we're looking to add to our team of talented designers. The period of commitment is from January through April 2009.

The Responsibilities:
- Create one layout every 2 weeks based on the sketch provided
- Meet deadlines for submitting layouts.
- Participate in our online community. While we do not have a full-blown forum, our designers are expected to leave praise for layouts uploaded by members.

You will also have the opportunity to provide prototype layouts for new sketches, however this is not an essential requirement.

The Perks
- The opportunity to be part of the newest, upcoming sketch blog.
- There is no designer remuneration but you may get to work with sponsor products from time to time.

How to Apply:
Simply choose from any of our sketches and give us your take on it - click here to see our current sketches. Be creative, we really want to see what you can do!

Please also include in your application:
- Name
- Address
- Email address
- link to your Blog or Online Gallery
- list of DTs you are currently on (this will not affect our decision, don't worry! :) )

Hi!

Things have been looking up here - but I have been SOOOO busy with my real job and life in general and I haven't had time to post.

I have found a 2 day a week placement for Benson at a local community based child care centre with a great reputation and I am soooo happy.  It is not ideal, but at least if the worst happens at ABC I will have two days of care.  BIG relief.

Feeling a bit down

I am feeling a bit down today and I am looking forward to a night out with friends to lift my spirit.

The ABC Childcare disaster has us caught up in its web and i don't think that that is helping  :o(

I am trying not to - but it is causing a level of anxiety.

This also causes some anxiety ... lol ...

In case you are wondering - yes, that is a very big snake.  Harmless I am told!!

More layouts!

Had a full day of meetings today in Sydney so it was busy, busy, busy ... but I came home to a super happy little man who showered me with hugs and kisses - ahhhh!  Perfect.

I have to confess that last night I decided to put all my layouts that weren't in albums into page protectors.  I filled 39 page protectors - that is 78 layouts.  That is from August!  OM Goodness.  Might need to slow down a bit.  I am out of album space at the moment, but bought three packets of page protectors on the weekend thinking that it would go a fair way - um all gone  :o(

Did it while I watched the box, so not a complete waste of time and now my layouts are at least protected.

Hi!

I know I promised to post retreat layouts, and I will share some before the end of this post.  But first, this weekend we celebrated the 40th birthday of a very special lady, Daniela.  She is my son's godmother and I am lucky enough to call her my best friend. 

The theme of the party was "Chick Magnets and Mutton dressed as Lamb".  Everyone got into the swing of it and had a GREAT time.  My hubby even won the chick magnet award!!
