Yep 37 today.

My awesome hubby went shopping yesterday in Sydney and bought me this for my birthday ...

Loving it!  It converts into the equivalent of a film SLR 50mm on my D80.  And this is what it captured this morning - me at 37 ...

Yep - I have gone darker on the hair again too thanks to a home colour on Tuesday.  I refuse to give in to the fact that I am grey (like 30% grey!) and it is getting too expensive to maintain the colour at a salon, so home colours are now my friend!

I am going to take photos of a bebe this afternoon (next door neighbour's sweet new baby boy) and can' wait to try it out further, but so far I am loving it.  It is super sharp and I love the focal length.  I loved my 50mm too but sometimes found that the fact it converted up to about 75mm meant that you had to be a long way from your subjects to fit them in.  The 35 is spot on!

Oops

Thanks for all of the lovely birthday wishes that I have been getting - but I realised that I must have clicked 29 instead of 30 when I put my birthdate into Facebook, and so it is out by a day - oops!

My birthday is actually tomorrow and I must remember to update Facebook - though I am completely illiterate when it comes to Facebook and will probably stare at it in a meaningless fashion before giving up on it!

It appears that there could be some good news happening on the "what's stressing Kim" front, plus I also made an appointment this morning to change fertility specialists.  I was not happy where I was at with my existing specialist, and on the recommendation of some of my lovely friends, I am moving on and taking control.  I always worry about hurting people's feelings and so don't want to tell them that I am leaving, but this is not going to get me what I want - so I did it!

Faux Van Gogh - Master artist inspired art created by you.  A modern adaption of a classic painting "Starry Night" by Vincent Van Gogh.  Play with impasto and acrylic paints to create your very own work of art.  Taught by Linda Baldock.

Christmas Frame - You will be making a 12x12 display to treasure always...you can hang it up or make it a centre piece by putting it on one of our display stands.  We will be playing with BG Wassail papers, Alison Ellis hot set powder and glitter, bling, metal shim and ink to create the most amazing buttons, and plenty of new release Christmas chippies.  You will need to bring 3 black & white photos measuring 2x2".  Taught by Ange Connolly.

Saturday 1-4pm

Wisteria Lane Housies - Go on a pleasant afternoon journey with Linda Baldock as she introduces you to the beauty and eclectic vision of the wee housies of

Wisteria Lane

.  You will learn dimensional stencilling with impasto and create exquisite embossed metal shim roofs.

Lemonade Mini Album - Naomi makes an exquisite mini album in her usual eclectic flip-floppy style.  You will be using a new release spiral bound mini album, BG Lemonade papers and plenty of chipboard...

Sunday 10-12:30

Robot Frames - Join Linda Baldock on her mission to contain three cheeky little robots in their faux metal ATCs.  These are real transformers, going from raw chipboard to something funky and futuristic! 

Sunshine and Blooms - Using a new release 12x12 overlay designed by Naomi Cox, you will create two gorgeous layouts.  You will learn how to create templates using your chipboard shapes, get to play with ink, paint, Alison Ellis heat set powder & glitter and create shapes and focus using journal blocks.  If bringing photos, you will need one 4x6 landscape b&w photo for one layout and one 4x6 portrait photo OR 3 3x2" photos for the other layout - note: photos can be added after the class very easily!

Sunday 1-4pm

Inchie Frame - Who said that size doesn't matter?  Sit in with Linda Baldock as she shows you that an inch can make you smile J. Learn an assortment of quick and simple techniques to create wonderful backgrounds, such as resist stamping and textured stencilling.

Gingerbread House - Hansel and Gretel wouldn't be able to resist this tasty little morsel, good enough to eat and just as much fun to create!  Join Naomi to create a new release 3D gingerbread house...you will be left hungry for more. 

Classes are $50 each, Gourmet Lunch is $15 (optional)...book in both classes in one day, with lunch for $110.

Included in your class fee is 2.5 or 3hrs of class time, morning or afternoon tea, a special release Scrapware surprise, PLUS the chance to win an exclusive Scrapware apron (one in every class to be won), PLUS go into the draw to win a signed piece of artwork by Linda B and an exclusive Scraptapestry kit, Naomi's brand new kit company!  There will also be lucky door prize giveaways & lots, lots more!

Love those Prima lollipop flowers and also the fact that you can recyle their packaging onto your layout!  I never throw away the Prima packaging - on this layout it is the kraft pieces above and below the photos.

life and a giveaway

Life is funny at the moment - it is good, but there are some incredible stressers happening too which (as I am a total worry wort) is making me very unsettled.

One stresser was sent off today - Masters - I didn't think it was stressing me, but I realise it must have been as I really wasn't enjoying the creative process the last couple of weeks, and I think that was because I was worried about my layouts/project being perfect.  Really, I just need to scrap like me and if they like it, good, if not, oh well.  In the end I am chuffed with what I made.  Well now it is too late, it is gone - and I feel like scrapping tonight!

The other stresser I won't talk about here - but the sooner things are resolved the happier I will be - I HATE uncertainty.

Embellished Idol has started!!!!

Get some inspiration with Embellished Idol (there are also great prizes on offer!!!).  The first challenge is up on the site.  I had to create a sample layout for this week ...

This layout used paper, brads and paper lace from the new Basic Grey Lemonade range, all of which are available from Embellished.  I also used super old flowers and letters from my stash - I knew I had kept that nearly finished packet of letters for a reason - lol, they were the PERFECT shade of red for this layout.  The ledger paper is Knave of Hearts from Collage Press.

A tip with cutting basic grey paper lace into circles - it is very delicate (much more than KI paper lace) and my circle cutter (which uses a dragged blade) does not agree with it!  I found I had a lot more luck by tracing circles and cutting them out by hand.

Hi ho everyone!

I am busy scrapping away for my Masters challenges at the moment (and some new stuff for Embellished Idol too!).  I am really happy with what I have been making for Masters, and even if I get nowhere, I have some great additions to my albums.

Had the best lunch today with Nell, Ally, Cass, Mel and Brig and assorted children and babies.  It was great to get away from thinking about work (which has been stressing me more than slightly the last couple of weeks).  A simple lunch with lots of laughs, great company and a chance to talk and connect - thanks girls!

I found that some raw Scrapware chipboard pieces were the perfect accompaniment to this kit - so I added some bits and pieces in  :o)

New Embellished shares

Well I have been busy - went scrapping at LSS on Friday night, backed into one of the other girl's cars on the way home at 12.30!!! So sorry to Kel; then took Benson down to the beach to learn to ride his bike at a quiet spot on the bike path and to fly the kite - ran into really good friends and sat and had a coffee while the kids played in the sand, enjoyed takeaway for dinner and sat and watched the last three episodes of True Blood (my reason for not having my Masters entry finished!!!).  Today we caught up with friends at Cronulla - they all went diving and the boys and I chilled on the beach searching for shells and building sandcastles - then we had a nice lunch before I got to snooze in the car on the way home.

I also have some new layouts that I have done for Embellished using American Crafts, Basic Grey June Bug and Basic Grey Lemonade.  Brace yourself for a big post - but I like to include detail shots!

After that mega lot of photos, that's it for me.  I will be spending this week trying to catch up from my procrastination about Masters, which has resulted in me not having started the projects yet - wish me luck!

Today and full Jillibean Soup

that's  not a day full of Jillibean Soup - lol!

I spent the day today in Sydney for work, and considering that it was a huge day of meetings and I had a really poor night's sleep last night, I am amazed how good i feel.  Partly I think I feel this way as I came home to a super happy little man!  Since he has dropped his day sleeps, we have been experiencing some very large meltdowns at night and it was just so wonderful to have a stressfree time with him, enjoying both of my men folks company when I got home.  A lovely meal cooked by Gary topped it off!

Now onto Jillibean, I wanted to take the chance to put all of my layouts from my Jillibean Soup Guest DT spot up onto my blog.  Thanks Jill for the great experience!
