We have an issue with Benson ... he is such an easy going kid that when we discipline him by removing toys etc, he just moves on - it doesn't bother him. Same if he loses something - "oh well" and move on.
This is intensely frustrating - though I know that the ability to adapt easily to change will hold him in good stead through life.
So I decided to try a reward chart and made this using Jillibean Soup Spotted Owl Soup range. This is actually a birthday range but it is so versatile.
It is laminated so we can use a whiteboard marker and then wipe it off. I also covered the whiteboard marker in patterned paper. The little stars are to use at the end of the week if he actually does the allocated chore everyday. It seems to be working.
We allocate a mximum pocket money of $5 a week, docked by 20 cents for each cross on the chart. At the moment Benson is saving his money to pay for the new googles that we had to buy to replace the pair he lost at the beach - then he needs to save up to buy a new school hat to replace the three that he has lost so far this year!
Cheers
Kim
