This boy ...

turned 6 on the day he fondly called "Happy Friday" - or Good Friday to the rest of us.

He is such a good kid and we love him to bits!  Some things about Benson at 6:

• he is so creative and imaginative in his play.  He loves to draw, paint, cut things out, create with lego and has recently discovered a love of scrapbooking (definitely my son!)
• he LOVES tv and is currently restricted to only watching tv after school on Friday's and on the weekend.  Even then we limit how much time he is allowed.
• he is doing well at school and I can see a real improvement in his reading this year.  He has lots of friends and seems to fit in well.  He loves doing activities on the computer.
• he copes well living with Coeliacs and has a really mature attitude towards what he eats.  He loves fresh fruit and vegetables and his favourite meals are picnic dinner, Shepperd's pie, nachos / tacos and spaghetti bolognaise.
• he is 126.5cm and 27kgs which is tall - no doubt he is going to be very tall as an adult.
• He has lost one tooth (on Easter Sunday - bottom front) and has another loose bottom tooth.
• he has turned into a "water boy" this summer, joining Nippers, loving spending time at the beach, pool and snorkling.
• has a LOT of problems tidying up after himself and keeping track of his stuff - particularly at school.  We are working on this with a chore chart and pocket money reward system.
• he says the funniest things at times, like on Easter morning he said the Easter Bunny was "very thoughtful" for bringing him a lego tile separator as part of his Easter present.
• He is still very good friends with Chelsea and from time to time they both still talk about getting married.
• He favourite bed toy is still Blue Bear, who is looking somewhat worse for wear after so much love and is now affectionately known as  BB, BlueB and manky bear.
• his favourite toys at the moment are defintely lego and he likes to make things according to the instructions and then pull them apart and make his own things (which freaks me out!).  He has no trouble following instructions to put together complicated creations.

All in all our little man is growing up so fast!

A big catch up ...

So what have I been up to this long weekend?

Well, I have:

• had some great family time;
• celebrated my little man's 6th birthday;
• coordinated the first visit by the tooth fairy;
• enjoyed a wonderful Easter morning through the eyes of a child;
• snorkeled in Kiama pools (yes it was cold) and watched Benson chase schools of tiny silver fish;
• bought a new pair of togs in preparation for our trip to Fiji;
• ate lots of chocolate (though not as much as hubby and child!);
• went on 2 x 5km runs;
• walked for 1.5hrs with a friend;
• went to a bosu/boxing class organised by the gym;
• drank lots of coffee and went out to lunch lots;
• had friends over for dinner;
• relaxed in the sunshine;
• took lots of photos;
• rediscovered an absolute LOVE of scrapbooking (again after a bit of a lull); and...
• drew the winner of my GCD prize giveaway.

I also have another giveaway for Cass who wanted to pass on her prize to a dear friend if she were fortunate enough to win.  Well she did not win, but such generousity should not go unrewarded, so I will be sending a parcel Kathy's way as well.

Thanks to everyone that participated in the giveaway - I had so many wonderful comments left, I wish I could give everyone something.  I also did not get a chance to respond to everyone, but I do want to say thankyou and that I appreciate everyone that drops by.

One other thing I did on the weekend was purge a HEAP of new unused past DT products that I will just never in 100 years be able to use all of, so watch this space for an upcoming Jillibean Soup giveaway!

I did lots of challenges this weekend, so I will photograph everything tomorrow and get it posted up here on the blog.

Final GCD project

This is my final blog post as a member of the GCD team. 

This past year has gone so quickly - I know that the new team is going to love their 12 months as much as I did!  Thankyou GCD Studios and Heidi for the opportunity to work with you.

So Heidi asked as to do something with a Spring feel for this project ... and I thought Easter (even though Easter is in Autumn downunder!).  This was the project that I came up with using a mix of Material Girls, Animal Crackers for boys and Animal Crackers for girls.  How cute are those birds that I cut from the die cut paper in Animal Crackers for boys?

PS - giveaway draw coming - watch this space.  I had to prioritise cleaning my office/scrap space as I could not get in the room and the "creative mess" was killing me.

Lilybee!

I am so excited to be able to share that I have made the Lilybee Design Team.  I only found out on Monday and it was a nice scrappy lift me up after finding out that I was unsuccessful with returning to the Jillibean Team.

I don't have any more Lilybee goodness to share at this time, so I will share another Jillibean layout that was part of my DT application ...

I made the pinwheel flowers and the little pennant flags. 

This is one of a number of double layouts that I have made lately.  I have several still waiting to be journalled and photographed.

Jillibean Soup ...

Jill has announced the new Jillibean Soup Design Team over on the blog.  Unfortunately I did not make it back onto the team  :o(   - Jillibean Soup is the most awesome team to work with and I know that the new team is going to LOVE their time!  I know that I am going to miss being a part of this wonderful team.  A big congrats to Katja and Belinda (Aussie girls) on their guest design spots.

One door shuts and another opens - so watch this space for an annoucement very soon!

I wanted to share with you a Jillibean layout from this month's team assignments ... this is a layout mainly using the Spotted Owl soup birthday range, but this is definitely not a birthday layout.

I stitched the rays of the sun with Jillibean baker's twine.
